Terms
Last updated 7 August 2026
These terms cover the early-access waitlist — the only thing Handlers offers right now. They are a working version and will change as the app is built; booking a handler, paying for a job and everything that comes with it will have its own terms, published before the app opens.
What joining actually does
Submitting a form puts you in a queue for review. It is not an account, not a booking, and not a job offer. A person reads every submission and either approves it or turns it down. Until that happens nothing else follows — no email, no place in the queue, no credit.
You need to be 18 or older, and the details you give us need to be your own and accurate. One live signup per person per list.
The launch credit
Advertised on the home page, and here is exactly what it means:
- It goes to the first 300 approved customer signups — approved, not submitted. Being early to submit does not hold a place.
- N$50 comes off each of your first three bookings. It is not a single lump sum you can spend at once, so a N$200 job costs you N$150, three times over.
- It cannot be used on a job taken by a handler who is still inside their commission-free jobs — the first 15 for a Founding Handler, plus any more they have earned by referring people. We pay those handlers their full fee, so a discount on the same job would be funded from nothing. The app will tell you before you book, not after.
- It is credit toward jobs booked in the Handlers app once it launches. It is not cash, cannot be withdrawn, and has no cash value.
- It belongs to the person who signed up and cannot be transferred or sold.
- It applies to the app when it opens. If we never open, the credit is never redeemable — it costs you nothing, but we would rather say so plainly.
- It can expire once the app is live. Any expiry will be stated in the app's own terms before you can spend it.
Referrals
Sharing your referral link earns N$50 of credit for you and N$50 for the person who joins, on the same terms as the launch credit above. Referral earnings are capped at N$100 in total. Both signups have to be approved to count, and referring yourself with a second email address does not.
Founding Handler status
- It goes to the first 50 approved cleaning and gardening applications, again on approval and not on submission.
- Trades we have not launched yet — plumbing, electrical, painting, HVAC and general repairs — do not carry Founding places and do not use up the 50. You can still apply, and applying is how we decide which trade to open next, but there is no work in that trade until we say so.
- It carries zero commission on your first 15 completed jobs in the app. After those, the ordinary commission applies. Referring people can add more — see Handler referrals below.
- It is recognition and a head start, not a cash payment, and not a guarantee of work or income. Zero commission on a job you never get is worth nothing, and we would rather say that plainly.
- Approval onto the waitlist is not the same as being verified to work. Before taking jobs, handlers go through identity and document checks, and passing those is a separate decision.
Handler referrals
- Anyone approved through your referral link — another handler, or a customer — earns you 3 commission-free jobs. Approved, not merely signed up.
- There is currently no limit on what you can earn from referring other cleaners and gardeners. Referrals from customers are capped at 6 commission-free jobs.
- The uncapped part is not a permanent term. We will give notice here before it changes, and anything already earned stays earned.
- They are separate from Founding Handler status and stack on top of it.
- They apply to jobs in the Handlers app once it launches. They are not cash, cannot be withdrawn, and have no cash value.
- A link nobody is approved through earns nothing. We do not pay for signups we turn down.
Turning applications down
We can decline a signup, and we can reverse an approval — for example where the details are false, the same person has signed up twice, or a submission is automated. If we do, anything attached to it stops applying. Where there's a reason worth giving, we will give it if you ask.
These offers can change
Handlers has not launched. The credit amounts, the number of places, and the launch date itself are all subject to change while we build, and the offers can be withdrawn before the app opens. What we will not do is quietly reduce something already granted to an approved signup without telling that person.
These terms are not final
This is a working version, not the finished document. Handlers is still being built, and these terms will change as it takes shape — we may update, add to or replace any part of this page, and the version published here is always the one that applies. The date at the top tells you when it last changed.
A separate, fuller set of terms covering booking, payment, cancellation, refunds and disputes will be published before the app opens, and those will govern anything you do in the app. Nothing on this page is the last word on it.
If we change something that materially affects a credit, a place or a status you have already been granted, we will tell the people it affects rather than letting them find out from this page. Continuing to use the site or staying on the waitlist after a change means the updated terms apply to you.
Staying in touch
Approved signups get a confirmation email and, later, a message when the app opens. The launch announcement carries a one-click unsubscribe link; you can opt out of the confirmation email by replying to it or writing to us. Either way, opting out takes you off the mailing without taking you off the waitlist.
If you gave us a phone number we may also message you on WhatsApp about your application or about early access. That is a person typing, not an automated service. Reply STOP to any of them, or tell us by email, and we will stop.
Your information
Handled as described in the Privacy Policy.
What the rest of the site describes
The home page explains how Handlers will work: identity checks on every handler, payment held until a job is confirmed, tiers, payouts, and how a dispute is handled. That is the product we are building and intend to launch, described in the present tense because it is what you will get — not a description of something operating today. Nothing is bookable yet, no handler has been verified yet, and no money is being held for anyone.
The exact rules for booking, payment, cancellation, refunds and disputes will be set out in the app's own terms, published before it opens, and those will be the ones that bind. Where the app screens shown on this site contain names, ratings, job counts or earnings, they are illustrations rather than records of real bookings.
Our role, once the app opens
Handlers is a marketplace. We introduce customers to independent handlers and we run the software, the payment hold and the dispute process around that introduction. When a job is booked, the agreement to do that work is between the customer and the handler. We are not the supplier of cleaning, gardening or any other service, and we are not a party to that agreement.
Handlers are independent contractors. They are not our employees, agents or partners. They choose which jobs to accept, they bring their own equipment, and they are responsible for their own tax and their own insurance. Nothing in the app or these terms makes anyone our employee.
What we will do
A disclaimer that promises nothing is worth nothing, so here is what we actually commit to:
- Check identity before a handler can take work — national ID, proof of address and a live selfie reviewed by a person.
- Hold the customer's payment until the job is confirmed, so nobody pays for work that was never done.
- Give both sides a way to report a problem, and freeze the payment while we look at it.
- Investigate what is reported, and act on it — including suspending or permanently removing a handler or a customer.
- Co-operate with the police and hand over what we hold where there is a criminal matter.
What we do not promise
Checking who somebody is reduces risk. It does not remove it, and we will not claim otherwise. We do not warrant that any handler is suitable for a particular job, that work will meet a particular standard, that it will be on time, or that it will be finished.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for loss, damage, injury or theft arising from what a handler or a customer does or fails to do, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Where we are liable for something connected to a booking and that liability can lawfully be limited, it is limited to the platform fee we earned on that booking.
None of that applies to liability that cannot be excluded under Namibian law — including our own fraud, and death or personal injury caused by our negligence. We are not trying to contract out of those, and saying so is what keeps the rest of this section standing.
Your side of it
If a claim is made against us because of what you did, because you broke these terms, or because of your dealings with the other side of a booking, you cover us for it.
We do not insure handlers, customers, property or work. Handlers are responsible for arranging their own cover, and customers should not assume any exists.
The site itself
This site is provided as it is, while a product is being built behind it. We keep it accurate and available as best we reasonably can, but we don't promise it is uninterrupted or error-free, and nothing on it is a professional recommendation. These terms are governed by the laws of Namibia.
